Essentials for Success - Your Home Business

There are many things to consider when you start a home business. How much time is involved? How do I promote this business? How much money will I have to invest? Lots of things to think about.

Many people believe you can work for thirty minutes per day and make alot of money. In most cases, this is just not true. Having a truly successful home business requires at least 3-4 hours per day. It is a good idea to make a list of everything you would like to accomplish each day.
As you start your day, I think it is a good idea to ignore your e-mail until all of your work is done for your business that day. Reading e-mail can sometimes get you side tracked for hours at a time.

There are endless ways to promote your business. Online, you can participate in forums and advertise your service and products there. You can start your own blog and invite others to join and comment (also putting your ads there, of course), submit your ads to online newsletters and ezines, and of course, classified ads.

Other ways to advertise your business online are to put up your profile on My Space or submit a lens on Squidoo. Of course advertise your site or link on these also.

A great way to promote your business is by submitting articles. Write on any subject that you know alot about, and advertise your business in your article. Articles improve your SEO dramatically. I believe this is the best way to advertise your business.

As far as how much money you will have to invest, that varies greatly.

Some people are very efficient at advertising without ever spending a dime. Others advertise by doing Pay Per Clicks, solo ads in e-zines, Google adwords and other avenues. This just really depends on how you advertise and what tactics you use.

You can also advertise your business very effectively off-line! Send newsletters in the regular mail, hand them out to businesses in your area (your doctor, hairdresser, local store, etc). Leave your business card everywhere you go! Also be sure to put your link in your signature of every e-mail you send out. There is no limit to how you promote your services.

In summary, spend plenty of time researching and organizing your business. You can find plenty of tips and ideas in newsletters, forums, and blogs. As for how much you spend to advertise, that is totally up to you and your imagination!

Good luck in your venture. It will be fun and profitable if you conduct it properly.
